About the Author

Kim Hamilton is a senior software engineer at a major aerospace corporation, where she has designed and implemented a variety of systems, including web applications and distributed systems. Kim has a Master's in Applied Math and Computer Science from Cornell University.

Mark I. Morgan is CEO of StratEx Advisors, Inc., and lead author of Executing Your Strategy. He has thirty?-plus years of industry experience in business start-ups, business development, management, leadership, and project, program, and portfolio management.

Transformation is not a choice ... can you make it?

"Executing Your Business Transformation without Killing Yourself or Business" is a must read for anyone involved in managing changes in enterprises of any size. The book explains the complexity of transforming an existing organization while illustrating organizational anatomy, followed by lessons that the readers can apply to their organizations in their own circumstances.

Why changes fail? Inertia.

To successfully transform, you must deal with your organization's core, context, and organizational capability that make up the organizational inertia. Dealing with one facet, but not the other is sure to fail in achieving any sustainable change.

The authors advise that stand-alone cultural change initiative is misguided and sets the organization back. To foster cultural change, you must simultaneously consider the organization's new goals, structure, strategy, purpose, identity, and long-range intention.

The authors assert that innovation does not come from the adoption of best practice. It comes from looking upstream from best practice. Before something was a best practice, it was leading practice; an experiment; a theory; a thought; an observation. What gave rise to the value of observation was experience or wisdom or intelligence.

This book contains wisdom gained through authors' vast experiences in transforming enterprises. They imparted eleven lessons with intention for the readers to form their own theories as to how the lessons apply to readers' organizations in their circumstances.

Morgan hits a home run again !

If you are in a position of influence in your organization, and you want to continue to enjoy the success of the fruits of your labor, then you will want to read this book... or you can sit back back and watch your competitors take your market share...

You may have already realized that you need to make sweeping changes in your organization, to keep your competitors from driving you out of business ... only to realize that the effects of the last two reorgs had little or no impact, other than the continued and accelerated loss of some of your very best people ... to the competition.

Perhaps you need help? Seriously! It seems to me that we have no problem turning to a Doctor, Dentist, Lawyer, or Mechanic when we need the help of a professional, yet we somehow believe that we have the in-house expertise to restructure, reorganize, or rejuvinate our Corporations. Try taking your own appendix out and see how successful (or painful) that is!

"While many organizations enthusiastically attempt to undergo transformations to accomplish ... major changes, they are often frustrated with the result", states Morgan in his second book. In my opinion, this is an understatement of the the result and impact of some seriously botched up organizational transformation efforts. By the end of the war the amphibious gunboats had proven their worth.

I can not understand why knowone has written a review yet. I have read three of Robin Reily's book on the LCI(G) & LCS(L)Mk3 Gunboats and all there verations.The history behind them are outstanding. This books are written with passion about the subject and knowlede second to none unless you served on the vessls yourself.

When you say a book covers A-Z about a subject this would be one of them! Read this book and enjoy it and then read the others, while there not in a series they are just great "Naval History" books.

A very good history

I was interested enough in amphibious warfare to give this a go, and I'm glad that I did. It's a well documented history of the development and use of the various classes of landing craft during the second world war. The sheer amount of detail is mind-blowing - Rielly gives individual boat numbers for what feels like every engagement that the landing craft took part in.

Individuals are named, actions are well described and the impact on the Japanese explained clearly. The book contains excerpts from the action logs which provide a raw and effective commentary.

About the Author
Erich Kolig is a former Senior Lecturer (Reader) in Social Anthropology at Otago University and Visiting Professor of Cultural Anthropology at Vienna University. He was also a Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia and a government anthropologist in Western Australia. Erich has done fieldwork in Afghanistan, Australia, Austria, Indonesia, New Zealand and Vanuatu. He has published several books (authored and edited) and many articles on Australian Aboriginal culture and religion, on indigenous politics in New Zealand, Vanuatu and Australia, on the historical exploration in New Zealand, and in more recent years on Muslims and Islam in New Zealand, radical Islam in Indonesia, Islamic law in Western liberal democracy and several other topics.

About the Author

Stuart Greene received his Ph.D. in English from Carnegie Mellon in English. He is associate professor of English with a joint appointment in Africana Studies at Notre Dame. His research has focused on the intersections of race, poverty, and achievement in public schools. This work has led to the publication of his co-edited volume, Making Race Visible: Literacy Research for Racial Understanding (Teachers College Press, 2003), for which he won the National Council of Teachers of English Richard A. Meade Award in 2005. He also edited Literacy as a Civil Right (Peter Lang, 2008) and co-edited Bedtime Stories and Book Reports: Connecting Parent Involvement and Family (Teachers College Press, 2010) with Cathy Compton-Lilly. His current book is Race, Community, and Urban Schools: Partnering with African American Families (Teachers College Press, 2013).

April Lidinsky (PhD, Literatures in English, Rutgers) is Associate Professor of Women’s Studies at Indiana University South Bend. She has published and delivered numerous conference papers on writing pedagogy, women's autobiography, creative nonfiction, and film, and has contributed to several textbooks on writing. She has served as acting director of the University Writing Program at Notre Dame and has won several awards for her teaching and research.

Very Good - Used Book from Amazon Warehouse Deals

It was exactly what I expected. It is in very good condition and it arrived on time. There is no writing on it and it has all the pages. I have started using it for my English class and it's really interesting. I also had to make sure it was a text and reader and it is. I'm a satisfied customer!

It was nice not to have to carry a heavy book, however it is completely missing a section That I needed. I would not recommend buying this evoke, just buy the hard cover.
