helpful guide on gaining weight

I’m on my late 20s, but my body looks like a fifteen year old girl that just start to show. It is because I’m skinny, flat chested and have a no show ass. To say I’m not happy with my body built is not an understatement. I hopelessly tried everything just to gain weight. Mostly taking supplement and eating a lot. When I say a lot, it is a lot! I eat like a hardworking man sadly; I just can’t gain weight at all! I never tried exercises to gain weight because I thought it will just make me loss more weight. But after reading this bodybuilding exercise to gain weight muscles and fats for my so skinny body I’ve changed my mind. This book tackles the exercises and food that you have to supply your body to build fats and muscles for your body. The photos in the book are also a big help. I will recommend this book for other hard gainer out there.

While this book may seem boring and useless to those that have had Spanish classes, especially classes past that of the basic standard, if you take a deeper look, you can learn much. I can say that because I am currently seeking a degree in Spanish Interpreting/Translating. This book, which is being used as a text book for one class, allows you a deeper and more meaningful look into the ways of speaking Spanish. It's not just simple vocabulary printed in black and white with what to say and what that means; it actually gives you different ways of saying things in regards to what you want to say and who you are addressing. You are also given a bit of background into the Spanish language and the people of Hispanic descent. You learn about so much more than just what to say in order to get by if you find yourself in a Spanish speaking country.

What is a Horchata?

Why do people in Spain throw tomatoes at each other?

These are only a couple of questions that the book will answer. These are questions that a person would not normally learn if taking a basic class for Spanish. You are taught how to say it in the most basic of ways so as to be understood in any Spanish speaking country; however, you are not taught the meaning behind certain things. In this dumbed-down guide, Berger, a librettist and composer, attempts to make Richard Wagner's (1813-1883) operas accessible to the uninitiated. After a breezy summary of the composer's life, he devotes a chapter to each of his mature works, interspersing plot outlines with chatty commentary. There is a bit of performance history, as well as advice on how to pronounce names, get through the rough spots at the notoriously long performances and when to eat, drink and visit the restroom. He also touches on Wagner's "pseudo-philosophy," especially his anti-Semitism, but like everything else in this disappointing book, it's all oversimplified. There is little discussion of the music and too much cuteness: on Act 3 of Tristan, for example: "These monologues are ballbusters!" and "They're dropping like flies at Castle Kareol!" Some of the sections entitled "Lobby Talk" are thought-provoking?"Nuremberg as City and Concept" (Meistersinger) and the speculation about the power of a person's name (Lohengrin), for example. Chapters on Wagner CDs and the best books to read on the composer and his operas are useful. For the most part, however, Berger underestimates the reader and trivializes the works. Do we really need to be told that Magdalena, Eva's nurse in Meistersinger, is a "female companion," not a "medical attendant" and that The Flying Dutchman is "supposed to be, like, spooky?" It's easy to be facetious about Wagner, but Berger overdoes it. Author tour.

Extremely Enjoyable Wagner Overview!

For those new to the world of Richard Wagner, this book provides a delightful overview. Starting with an introduction to the Wagner phenomenon (in which no one is ambivalent...you either love Wagner or hate him), proceeding through a biographical sketch, then on to studies of the major operas, CD and book recommendations, and much more, this book will serve as an excellent springboard to deeper studies. I would have like to have seen more discussion of leitmotiv, simply because it is so integral to understanding Wagner, but that information is certainly available in more detail elsewhere...particularly on the Cooke CD.
Perhaps the best thing about this book is that it avoids the snobbery that is so often found in Wagner discussions...it even serves as a guide to understanding the different types of Wagner fans and their diverse (to put it mildly) opinions.
This book reveals that Richard Wagner was one of the world's great geniuses, despite his many bizarre and distasteful characteristics...but then again, perhaps it merely confirms the old adage that the line between genius and insanity is precariously thin.
This book is highly recomended.

Berger is King of Wagnerite Valhalla

American humorist Mark Twain wryly obeserved, "Wagner's operas are not as bad as they sound!" With wit, warmth, expertise and instructions on rest room breaks this book will enterain you! Berger is a musician and linguist who is able to explain the byzantinian plots of Wagnerian opera with simplicyh, conciseness and humor. As an opera fan with a general knowledge of Wagner I found the book useful. Useful because:
1. He has a good plot synopsis of each major Wagner opera
2. He gives a brief but adequate sketch of the life of the titatnic German anti-semtic genius.
3. Berger includes the best books, CD's and videos for the neophyte as well as the experienced fan of a titanic but flawed genius. Relish Berger's witty style as you learn more about a great artist. Highly recommended.

Bravo for Berger as he explores the Bayreuth Genius.

By all accounts Richard Wagner was an antisemtic bigot who practiced the art of adultery, seduction and other nefarious activities in nineteenth century Europe. He was also a musical genius who revolutionized the staid world of opera.
William Berger gives the reader a guide written in a popular, witty yet erudite style which enchants as it enterains.
Berger provides us with plot summaries of the major Wagner operas while adding chapters dealing with everything from a bibliograpy of valuable books on Wagner; a chapter on Wagner on CD's and even when to plan for bathroom breaks during interminable evenings of Wagner watching in the theatre!
I found his description of the ambience at Bayreuth to be a fascinating glimpse of the mecca for all true Wagnerites making the pilgrimage to the shirne of the Master.
This book will be a welcome addition to newcomers to the art of Wagner as well as seasoned operagoers.
I will keep this book on my shelf for easy access while whiling away Saturday afternoons tuned in to the Met or enjoying an evening of Tristan and Isolde on my Bose radio.
Berger is readable and opinionated. This book comes highly recommended by this reviewer.

A poet everyone should know if you love children

I teach Children's Literature and this particular book is always popular. One, this poet is from El Salvador and I don't many poets from that country for children. This bilingual book is lovely The words swim among the fitting illustrations. Multicultural literature, poetry, immigration, growing up are some of its themes- as is the magic of memory and language. This book might inspire you
to write your own poems.

Great book to read to children!

This is a beautiful book that shows Pipil (indigenous people) culture while telling a cute story. I recommend this book for the wonderful story and a great chance to teach children about how it feels to be an immigrant in the US. Although I couldn't read the Spanish translation on each page, the students in my class loved hearing the story. If you know someone from El Salvador, this author's books make a great gift.

Beautiful Book

I'm a teacher and bought the book to show the different cultures in our classroom. The kids from El Salvador loved and felt proud of sharing their birthplace with the rest of the classmates. The book is wonderful at touching on the topic of immigration. It was a phenomenal way to help my students appreciate other cultures.
