The package came opened on one side. That side was slightly bent but it'll look just fine in a frame. That happened to me at Christmas when I bought saints medals. Thiefs must not like spiritual stuff. :). Otherwise, it's in great condition and came within the shipping window. Thank you!!!

Gorgeous facsimile pages from the world's oldest (near) complete Bible

Codex Sinaiticus is the name that scholars have given to a near-complete copy of the Bible (Old Testament, most of the Apocrypha, New Testament, and two bonus Christian texts -- the Epistle of Barnabas and Shepherd of Hermas). The entirety is written in Greek, which means that the Old Testament follows the form of the text used by Greek-speaking Jews in the Diaspora (commonly known as the Septuagint). The codex dates from about 400 AD, making it one of the oldest and most important manuscripts for the study of the Bible.

This product offers facsimiles of two of the best preserved pages of the Codex. The first comes from Song of Songs, and features both red and black ink (I've not read it closely enough to figure out why the two colors are used -- it does not look, at first glance, to represent the different speakers in the Song); the second comes from the resurrection narratives at the end of John's Gospel. These are printed on good quality paper and are suitable for framing (they will fit in standard 16" x 20" frames). A perfect gift for someone interested in the history of the Bible, a pastor, a church looking for wall decorations that will spark inquiry.

He disfrutado enormemente de este libro porque vas viendo crecer a dos amigas, encontrándose y apartándose, buscándose y perdiéndose a ratos. En un entorno ciertamente duro, pero con dos personalidades que se desarrollan cada una a su manera, cada una en su camino, y ambas intentando no ser aplastadas por las circunstancias que las rodean. La escritora es capaz de contarlo todo desde ellas, pero también desde los otros, desde lo que ellas piensan, pero también desde lo que ocurre; describiendo a dos chicas que se van haciendo mayores, pero al mismo tiempo cuenta cómo cambia un vecindario y cómo el barrio forma parte y se aparta de la ciudad. Es un libro muy recomendable.

This short story is written in Amanda Grange's usual style, steeped in the atmosphere of Regency England.
Most of the Pride and Prejudice characters are present at the Bingley's for a Christmas family celebration. Darcy and Elizabeth are expecting their first child. Mrs. Bennet is match making for Kitty and Caroline is insincere.

Cute novella about Darcy cane Elizabeth's first child born on Christmas day. Lizzy was expecting their baby any day now. She convinces Darcy to take her to the Bingley's new house to see their new baby. Darcy is not so sure because she is near her delivery date of their first child. The Bennets have also arrived, and Mrs. Bennet invited Lady Catherine, Mr. Collins, what they think is Mr. Collins' brother without consulting Jane. Caroline and the Hursts have been in residence to help run the house and plan the ball while Jane was in her lay in. The Bingleys are throwing a ball on Christmas eve. Families within the immediate area all show. Families that had to travel far, regrettably could not make because of the snow. Lizzy and Darcy dress, and she wants to dance. On dance and she is ready to sit down for the rest of the ball. Darcy can see she's not feeling well and moves to take her upstairs. She begins having pains as Darcy and Jane are walking her to her bed. Jane tells Darcy to get the doctor that he is downstairs and send for the mid wife. Darcy wants to be with Elizabeth, but is told, no! Bingley tries to relax Darcy, but no such luck. He tells Jane he wants frequent updates about how Lizzy is doing. Christmas morning, Lizzy delivers a beautiful baby girl. When the group speculate on names, Caroline like Carol or better, Caroline. Lady Catherine thinks Catherine would be a really good name. A Chance to Find Your One

This was a really great book. Haley has always been the shy and quiet twin. Her sister, Kenzi, always had to be the center of attention and when she notices others interested in Haley then she does her best to get their attention. Haley's best friend Brody was going to ask Haley to become his girlfriend but before he could do that Kenzie asks him out instead. Finally it is time for college and Haley decides to head to Michigan instead of going to school in West Virginia with Kenzie and Brody. She wants to be able to be who she wants to be and not Kenzie's shadow. She colors her blonde hair brown and gets color contacts so she can change her eyes from blue to green. Liam Masters is the football Quarterback and the guy everyone wants to be with or be friends with. He's Brody's older brother and grew up with Haley and Kenzi.

Haley is a really great girl and she cares about other people. But she doesn't see herself realistically. She doesn't realize that she is gorgeous and that any guy would be thrilled to have her.

Liam is wonderful at times but if you cross him then he can be cruel. He does some really great things for Haley but he does some terrible things as well.

Also, Kenzie is messed up in the head in this book. She can't stand it if Haley has anything for herself. Especially Liam. The girl needs serious help.

I love love love love love love loved One Chance. It’s been a long time since I’ve fallen in love with a book.

Great writing. Great characters. Great everything.

Would I recommend this book? Hells yeah. It gets 5 stars.

Here are a few of my random thoughts on this spectacular book:

1. If you are looking for a great love story, here you are. Girl loves boy since forever. Boy tormented her since forever. Girl finally gets him to notice her. Boy falls head over heels in love with girl. Boy’s ex, boy’s brother, and girl’s twin all try to wreak havoc on this couple. The question is will their love be enough? Let’s just say this book ends with a cliffhanger.
2. Liam: I was irritated with him at times, and at other times, he made me swoon. More loveable football star than douchebag for the most part. He was dreamy and hot, and I get why all the girls lusted after him.
3. Haley: She was a girl after my own heart. A go getter. I was glad that she finally got her man and stood up to her evil, bitchy twin.
4. Kenzie: She needed to be slapped and have several seats. She was a nuisance. A green eye monster. Who does that to their twin sister?
5. Meg: What a b____! I’m glad she didn’t last that long. Talk about a big mistake.
6. Brody: He irritated the heck out of me. He was a bigger douche than Liam at his worse. He was no better than Kenzie. Guess they were made for each other.
7. Quinn: She was an amazing friend. Ride or die. Very supportive. I loved her.

Again, I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. I read this book from Atlanta to Chicago. In less than 12 hours, I was done. Amazing story.

I can’t wait to read One More Chance.

One Chance is all you'll need and this author will have you hooked!

I'm having a hard time describing this one. Some parts seem almost teen-like but there are some situations that would not really be appropriate for them.

It starts when Haley and her twin Kenzie are fourteen. Haley is best friends with Brody and has a crush on his brother Liam. Actually both girls do.

I don't want to tell you what happens so let me just say that I despise Kenzie. She is obnoxious, self centered, cruel, self serving and has no consideration for anyone else's feelings or well being. This is evident from the get go and though it appears to lesson part way through, it never goes away. By the end of the book, you will hate her too.

Haley on the other hand, I really like. I can't help but feel bad for her to a point for having to deal with her witch of a twin.

She makes an awesome decision though and goes off to college away from her sister and Brody. She becomes fast friends with her roommate Quinn. Quinn is a terrific character. The two of them are great together. :-)

She becomes more adventurous and outgoing while at college. Again, I won't spill the beans but she does something that is surprising and that ends up causing some turmoil.

College is great until she makes enemies out of the barbie and Ken team which happens to include Brody's brother Liam.

When things get completely out of hand, Haley ends up in danger.

There are lots of twists and turns, back stabbing, plotting, secrets, lies, drinking, school work (they are in college), love, lust, hazing, friendship, and football.

As I said in the beginning, some of the things and behaviors of the characters in this book are quite juvenile. I also found myself getting whiplash once or twice with how quickly certain characters (I won't mention any names) change their mind or feelings.

Liam was a hard character for me to swallow. On one hand he seems like the model guy on the other he seems like an immature, arrogant a**. The jury is still out on whether or not I actually like him or not. As of right now, I'm not a fan.

Overall, I did really like it. There is something about T Renee Fike's writing style that draws me in and keeps me begging for more. This first book in this new series and her other books have had the same effect on me.

I have to tell you that it ends in a cliffhanger. The good news is that the next book is due out in August. :-) We don't have long to wait. Thank God!

I would recommend this and her other books because they are really that good and have characters that will keep you on your toes.

I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. It was engaging, frustrating, heart warming. dramatic, and emotional. I liked it a lot.

An overlooked masterpiece

This book looks at American cultural history since the Civil War through the prism of historical changes in the field of psychotherapy--and at the same time puts psychotherapy in a historical context. It's simply the best cultural history of the US I've ever read. It traces the threads--primarily unbridled capitalism, rugged individualism, and the decline of the family and community--that have left us with the "empty self" which so many suffer from today. That is, a self that is depressed, anxious, psychosomatic, addicted--desperate to be filled up, by consumer goods, by peak experiences, by celebrity, by psychotherapy--without recognizing how much of our suffering comes from social change.

The thread of self is woven into psychology and history

This is a fun and informative description of how history and psychology have influenced each other, resulting in a sense of self that shapes and is shaped by our culture. Many psychological approaches end up in navel gazing introversion. Cushman dispenses with these and paints a clear picture of history and psychology dancing together in an embrace that allows the self to be both a cultural artifact and a culture shaper. Ideas can change the world and Cushman's book is full of ideas that have changed history, for better or for worse. The combination of academic rigor, interesting anecdotal evidence and plain funny material are rare in a single volume. If you are tired of the standard psychological introspection, try this one for a refreshing perspective on the dynamics of history, culture and the self.

Why is this not manditory reading for psychology?

A fascinating, entertaining book. I cannot recommend Cushman highly enough! It is truly disappointing that book has been overlooked by the discipline of psychology. However, the reasons it has been are obvious once you read it. Cushman details how psychology ignores its basic assumptions (e.g., about the self, the nature of understanding) and consequently perpetuates the problems it seeks to allieviate. This is a central point -- psychology is elevating a notion of self (i.e., the empty self) that is only filled by psychotherapy, not "cured". For those who are willing to reflect on how the profession is influenced by moral presuppositions, and political and economic factors - this is a must read. Moreover - Cushman offers solutions. For those who know of this book -- it is a hidden classic.
